SHEHOLDS

SHEHOLDS is a publication about how women live, hold, and shape the spaces around them.

It follows motherhood, marriage, family, sex, grief, responsibility, travel, home, attachment, authority, and the body.

Not as separate subjects.

As one life.

The publication is written by Lai Yin.

Its central framework is Placement 放置.

Structure

SHEHOLDS is organised across four domains.

Origin 起源
How things began.

Gravity 重力
Somatic Embodied power

Orbit 軌道
The lives that form around gravity.

Placement 放置
How stability is installed in the body.

Placement

Placement is a framework developed by Lai Yin and published on the SSRN (Social Science Research Network) https://ssrn.com/author=8773500

It examines how stability is created and maintained through language, behaviour, attention, environment, and relationship.

Most women recognise it immediately.

A room settles.

A child settles.

A household settles.

A woman settles.

Placement studies what creates that state and what allows it to remain.

About the Work

Lai Yin writes from memory.

The essays draw from lived experience across Hong Kong, Australia, South East Asia, Japan, Europe and North America.

Children are born.

Parents die.

Families move countries.

Bodies change.

Women age.

The work follows life.

The essays combine observation, experience, physiology, behavioural research, and ontology.

Together they form a long-form body of work about structure, attachment, stability, and female authority.

Selected Topics

Research

Placement is also published as an ongoing preprint series on SSRN.

The Placement Log

The public essays describe the structure.

The Placement Log shows it installed.

Sixteen weeks.

One household.

One marriage.

Observation and practice.

Notes from Lai Yin

Most weeks I publish a new essay.

Sometimes it is about food.
Sometimes it is about daughters.
Sometimes it is about marriage, travel, sex, grief, aging, dogs, airports, or finding home in a new country.

Subscribers receive new essays, book updates, and occasional research notes from my work on Somatic Power, Gravity 重力 and Placement 放置.
